Three Silver Pieces - [Action/Written]

[Arthur really had no idea what to do with himself. It had been two months now and his various trips had seen every inch around the barrier, save for those that the ocean blocked. The mountains had provided him with a handy way of escaping the village after his humiliation with that experiment. He had already crossed them once, with Cordelia, but he was only now returning again after a long trip crossing them on the northern edge of the barrier only to cross them on the south.

Reluctant as he was to admit it, he really was trapped. There was no way out. Even the excursion out to sea seemed like it would only be a way of confirming what he already suspected. There was nothing that he, even as King of Camelot, could do to escape. Especially when not even magic seemed to make a difference. Upon returning to the village on horseback, he was too weary to prepare his own meal, so his first stop was Seventh Heaven. Some of his clothes had been torn on the trip and with no way of repairing them himself, he made a stop at the clothing shop to find some replacements. Even before being able to return to his own apartment, he had to see to it that he put his horse away and saw to it he was properly fed and stabled for the night. Hard work, all of it. What he wouldn't give for a servant.

Later, in the evening, he writes up a message on the journal.]

It's been two months since I've arrived. If the guide to this place is right, that means more of us will be coming soon. Does it get tiresome, hearing how intent we are on to escape, knowing that we'll soon realize how futile it really is? It seems I may find that out for myself, soon enough.

Nor will it be me. We can offer our talents to those that will find them useful, or mope.

Brooding, then.

This place does provide ample opportunity for reflection, all things considered.

One might learn things they are unable to in their own world. Immediate action need not be taken. Planning. Preparing. Waiting for an opportunity much like the Malnosso seem to be offering later this month, or the next.

Patience is a virtue, good things come to those who wait, strike when you see the whites of their eyes, etc, etc, etc. Here there is time enough. Something will happen. Perhaps sooner rather than later.

I have managed to brush up on my English idioms and turns of phrase the past few weeks.

How else am I to convey to my patients how foolish it is to go about bruised and broken if I cannot use idioms with which they are more familiar?
fleurdesel: right, serious, angry (You act like I can change this)

Blunt only works roughly half the time, from what I have seen. Less if the patient is particularly stubborn. Colorful hyperbole about how idiotic they are and how much worse it could have been? That tends to change their minds most of the time.

Not as much as they love having their limbs cooperate with them after I am finished with my work.

We've food, shelter, our health, access to resources otherwise unavailable in our worlds, if not our freedom. Is the tradeoff worth it? No. Not to me. But it could be worse.

Everything provided free of cost, plenty of allies or friends to make, and social events enough in the community to make one forget that this is, more than anything else, a prison. A very pretty prison, yes. But it is...disconcerting how easy it is to forget.
