One Silver Piece - [Action / Voice]

[arturius]

[Arthur jolted awake, shivering. His first thought was his sword, immediately reaching for it, only to find snow waiting for him. He soon realized he was half naked in the snow. Not good. It must have been an enchantment. His sister's doing, no doubt. All he had to his name was simple pants and a strange book. After yelling for Merlin for a bit, he gritted his teeth, tightened his jaw, and picked a direction. Fortunately a small abandoned outpost wasn't too far away. Inside he found some spare clothing, some food, and a map.

His first stop was the smithy. He had intended to request a weapon, hoping to find some loyalty to Camelot. But after discovering the recently claimed sword in the stone and no staff present, he simply took the weapon back. Far be it for him to deal with thieves. The shirt of chainmail was most likely his as well. He took that back in short order as well, pulling it back on. This was no doubt a town of thieves and sorcerers. They must have abandoned him in the snow, figuring he would freeze to death. Well, they thought wrong. He would be getting to the bottom of this.

And what better place to find bandits than a tavern? He had no gold on him, but he figured he would rectify that problem once he had found his attackers. So sitting down at the bar, he slapped the bar, and ordered a cold tankard of mead, while carefully surveying the occupants in the bar.]

[Voice] (after his time at the bar)

I am Arthur Pendragon, King of Camelot. If there are any other citizens of Camelot still loyal to me, speak up. There are important matters to discuss.

Oh, really? You're a knight?

[arturius]

[Well, no sense denying that. So he nods.] That's right. I'm Arthur.

[mikangirl]

Well, pleased to meet you. I'm Nami. [She grins faintly.] Pirate. You're new in town, I take it.

[arturius]

I am. [Now let's make sure he heard this right because he's pretty sure that sounded a lot like:] Pirate?

[mikangirl]

Pirate. [The grin gets a little wider.] You'll find there's a few of us in town. Don't worry, there's not much pillaging going on.

[arturius]

Well, seeing as how I've been told everything is free, there wouldn't be much point, would there? [But he's gotta wonder why a girl like that needs to be a pirate. It makes no sense.]

[mikangirl]

You'd be surprised. One of us does get a little bored on occasion. [This is said in a tone that implies she thinks that pirate is kind of an idiot at times. Nami is fond of idiots, however.] To be honest, some of us don't do that much of it back home, either. Different kinds of pirates, I guess.

What's it like being a knight?

[arturius]

Well, you get to wear lots of armor and defend the realm. It's not always as glamorous as it looks.

[mikangirl]

I don't doubt. I bet my captain would disagree, though.

[arturius]

Why is that? Does he fancy himself a knight?

[mikangirl]

My captain once ran around town in a bunch of knight's armour. [He also did that in canon, but she was elsewhere at the time.] He calls it a "man's romance". He'd probably think you were amazing.

[arturius]

There's more to being a knight than simply throwing on armor.

[mikangirl]

I know that. I'm sure he does, too. Deep down.

Found anyone you know here?

[arturius]

No. I've only just arrived within the last hour. I came here to collect information. [His knights and Merlin all love a good drink, as well. This would be as good as any place to find them.]

[mikangirl]

Well, a bar's always a good place for that. [Approval! She nods towards the bar.] Buffy's been here even longer than I have. I'm guessing she filled you in a fair bit.

[arturius]

Quite a bit. [A glance back at the bar.] Though she's difficult to understand.

[mikangirl]

[She has to stop and think about that for a second. Then she grins.] No, I have to confess I don't think I've heard anyone else speak like that. But you get used to it after a while. Did she tell you about the Welcome Centre?

[arturius]

A place for a free bed, am I right? It was mentioned in the book.

[mikangirl]

Yup. That, and they'll have a list of what houses or apartments are available, so you can go claim one. If you're lucky you won't be here long enough to really set up house, but... [She gives a shrug.]

[arturius]

Luck indeed. I intend to head towards the barrier tomorrow at first light.

[mikangirl]

Make sure you take a good amount of supplies. It's a couple days out in the snow. [She could tell him it's pointless, but he'd probably go check anyway.] I can give you a map, if that'd help.

[arturius]

[He's going to be told it's pointless a lot. It only makes him all the more resolved to go. It could very well be some village-wide conspiracy to keep him from checking.]

I found a map already. But I will make sure I am properly prepared.

[mikangirl]

[She wonders if it's her map.] Good idea. And take your journal. If you run into trouble, you can always call in. Someone'll come help.

[arturius]

[If she leaves her maps in the new forest stations, then yes, yes it is.]

I don't think it will come to that, I but I'll keep it on hand.

[mikangirl]

[Oh well, he might notice her name on them at some point in the future.]

Depends on if we get an experiment while you're mid-trip. Could get nasty. You're used to cross-country trekking then, I take it?
